Face your fears in 2017 with Courage

As we approach the end of 2016, I would like to personally wish you a wonderful holiday season and a great 2017. I think wishing you a happy 2017 would be a false hope as we know in life there are ups and downs. Instead, I wish you more courage to face any uncertainties in 2017.

What have we learnt from 2016? Expect the unexpected! Whether we are referring to the political results, football match results, the olympic drugs testing scandals, the unexpected job redundancies, unexpected deaths

(personal and those in the public eye), just to name a few. Many would agree that 2016 was a difficult year for many people and that going into 2017 brings more uncertainties than perhaps many people would like to face.

Change is the one certainty that we can expect to experience 2017. So how prepared are you and your business to embrace, adapt and move on?

Throughout this year, I have coached many professionals who experienced sudden change to their professional or personal situation. Each of my clients recognised that "they" had the power to overcome the challenges they were facing.

I would like to share three top tips that has helped me and my clients to move through the change curve and emerge even stronger and more resilient to face any change.

Top tips No.1: #Mindset

We know that we cannot control circumstances or what happen to us in life, but we can sure try and should try and control our response. This means taking time not to react on the spot when we are facing a challenging situation. Surround yourself with positive people and always believe that things will get better. If you cannot change your mindset and the situation, then accept it and move on.

Top tips 2: #Well-being

Look after your wellbeing and the wellbeing of others. Stress affects us mentally, emotionally and physically. I have seen my clients feel very ill as a result of stress brought on by change. It is often very hard to think of yourself when you are in the middle of a personal or organisational change. So make it your goals in 2017, to look out for others who may not be coping well with change. Asking for help is a sign of strength. So set yourself some realistic goals to do exercise, take time out from work and really enjoy being in the present!

Top tips 3: #Fail quick

Whether you are starting a new job, new company or hiring new staff in 2017. There are chances that failures may/will happen. Learn from what you could have done differently and move on quickly. Fear of failures will only stop you from trying new things and taking risks. In this world of constant change, the ability to adapt fast is what will ensure success.

So in 2017, don't let the fears of change hold you back or keep you in your comfort zone, have a positive mindset, look after your wellbeing and fail quick.
